Hello all!
How's everything going? Hope it's good for you all. This was a good
week. We've been able to work on Family History a little bit with some
members, and it's been going really well. We've done quite a bit of Book
of Mormon contacting this past week, and that has gone really well. We're
hoping something comes out of that soon.
General Conference was
great this past week. I love having the opportunity to listen from our
inspired leaders twice a year. There were many great talks given. I
want to share my thoughts from President Monson's message on Sunday Morning.
He spoke of the importance of the Book of Mormon in our lives. He said that we,
as members of the church, have a "critical need...to study, ponder, and
apply it's teachings in our lives", then challenged us to read the Book of
Mormon daily. This is something that I have full belief in. The
Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion, and as we read, we center our
lives in the gospel and become stronger spiritually. In April of 2009,
Elder Holland gave a talk titled "Safety for the Soul" (basically my
favorite conference talk, if you haven't seen it, make some time to watch it
this week because it is amazing and it will make you want to read the Book of
Mormon).
He declares that "God always provides safety for the soul, and with the Book of Mormon, He has again done that in our time. Remember this declaration by Jesus Himself: 'Whoso treasureth up my word, shall not be deceived'—and in the last days neither your heart nor your faith will fail you."
I add my witness to the
prophets and apostles that I know the Book of Mormon is true. It is the
word of God, and I know that as we read it, we call down power from heaven to
help us in our lives. I promise that as we read the Book of Mormon, we
will feel the Spirit of the Lord in our lives, and we will come closer to our
Savior and align our will to His.
I love you all, and
have a legendary week!
