Week 105 - Poznan

Elders Hadfield & Erickson - October 26, 2016 - November 20, 2018
Hello! How are you all doing lately?  Hope life is treating you all well, things are going well for me here in Poznań.  It was yet another quick week, they all feel so fast.

Monday: Just had a chill p-day, we went to the mall and also had branch FHE in the evening.  We also helped out a member with something in the evening, which was fun.

Tuesday: We did a bit of finding, which was solid.  We had lunch at a member's apartment, B., and that was great.  She's such a solid member, she's been through a lot.  We did weekly planning in the afternoon, then in the evening, we were supposed to meet with a potential, M., but it ended up not happening.  We had our branch mission correlation meeting with S., which went well, he suggested some cool things for questions we could ask people when we contact, so we've been trying some of that, which has been fun.

Wednesday: We did some English finding in the morning, which went well.  The attendance at our English classes and at our religious discussions has been down, so we've been trying to do a little English finding every week.  We did some more contacting in the afternoon, and had English class in the evening.

Thursday: We had our weekly service project at the hospice in the morning, which went well.  Apparently missionaries have been volunteering there weekly for about 3 years, which is pretty cool.  We did some contacting during the afternoon in addition to studies, and we had English class in the evening again.

Friday: Zone Conference!  That was a way good time.  We had zone conference in Wrocław this time, which was my first time there.  I'd heard it was one of the prettiest cities in Poland, and it was pretty, but not quite on the Kraków level...just saying, @PresidentTurek.  It was a way good conference though, President taught some great things about creative finding and it was way enjoyable.  I also got to bear my final testimony with Elder Erickson, which was a good time, he's a legend.

Saturday: We did studies in the morning, and had English just after noon.  Only one person ended up coming, and they left pretty early, but we were able to spontaneously set up a meeting with S., which ended up going pretty well.  We watched some talks from this last conference, including President Oaks', and he enjoyed them, we had a good talk about the Plan of Salvation.  We cleaned the chapel with a member, R., from the Philippines, which was cool.  We then were going to go out to a small town called Stare Kurowo to meet with a potential, but it ended up being canceled.  So we did some more finding in the evening.

Sunday: Sunday was a good day, Church was pretty bomb.  There's a military base here in Poznań, and there are a few members from the States that are in the military that come to church, and two of them had talks and one of them taught Sunday school.  They were all way good, I really enjoyed it.  The Spirit was strong there.  It was good, because there were a couple less-actives that were there as well as one of our English students and a former, so hopefully they were able to feel the Spirit present there and they'll have a desire to keep coming.  We did some studies and some contacting in the evening, and it was a fun day.

So that was our week.  It was another good one, we're hoping to build off of some things that happened this week, and we'll see what this next one has in store.  Hope you are all doing well, have a solid week!

Week 104 - Poznan

We had a lot of finding this last week, which actually went pretty well, we met some cool people.  We have a meeting with a guy named M for the first time tomorrow, and we'll see how that goes.  We met a cool guy on the streets named G, and he's way humble and open.  We talked for a bit with him, and we exchanged numbers and gave him a Book of Mormon, and we've been in contact, hopefully we'll be able to meet.

We also met another cool guy named M last night, hopefully we'll be able to set up to meet with him.

On Friday evening we went to go visit a less-active not terribly far from our apartment, so we started contacting in the general direction of the address.  We didn't have a map, so we were kind of just hoping to stumble across it, and that's exactly what happened.  We started out going the wrong direction, and while we were going the wrong direction we met G, so that was a cool miracle.  We made a big loop, contacting on the way, and had another good conversation with someone, and we stumbled across the street we needed only 2 minutes from the address.  So that was a cool series of events, and we ended up being able to get the information about the less-active that we needed.  So it was a cool evening, being able to look back and see how we were led.

As far as my tastes, I think they have changed at least a little bit. Elder Jabłoński and I found a cake mix in the other sisters' apartment, and we made it and ate it yesterday, and it was tasty, but we both just felt sick afterwards, I'm not used to that much sugar haha.  There aren't really any spicy things here, so I'm excited to see how that'll be when I go home.

Week 103 - Poznan

Hey all!  This week was another quick one here in Poznań.

Monday: I had eight hours of train rides to and from Warsaw to pick up my new companion, Elder Jabłoński, so it was a pretty boring day overall.

Tuesday: We help the senior couple clean out an apartment that is getting shut down here soon.  We also did some finding and weekly planning, and had branch mission correlation meeting in the evening.

Wednesday: We did some more contacting in the morning, we had English in the evening, and we also watched the last session from conference, the Sunday afternoon session.  That was probably my favorite session, it felt like there was just one great talk right after another, I was a fan.

Thursday: The elders from Bydgoszcz were here on exchanges, and that was a good time.  I was with Elder Chugg in the morning, when we went to our weekly service project at the hospice, we had district council, then Elder Augenstein and I did studies and had some fun contacting.  It was a good day.

Friday: We had some contacting in the morning, which went well.  We met a guy named Marek who said he'd be down to meet, so we'll see if we can set up something for this week.  We had a meeting with S. in the afterrnoon, which went well.  We committed him to watch some conference with us this week, so we'll see how that goes.

Saturday: We had lunch at B's house, which was good.  She's a good member, and she has a lot of fun stories about past missionaries.  We had English class, which was alright, did some contacting and studies.  We were going to have a meeting with R., but he called and asked if we could meet on Sunday instead.

Saturday: We had church in the morning, which was a good time.  I like the members here in Poznań.  Also did some finding in the afternoon, then R. called and canceled, so we did some more finding in the evening.

So yea, that was our week.  We've got a number of people we have met on the streets, just having a hard time getting a hold of them and setting up to get new people to teach.  Hopefully we will see some success with that this week.  Hope you are all doing well, have a good week!

Week 102 - Poznan

Hey y'all!  How are things going?  Hope you all had a good week and that things are good for you.  Things are going well here in Poznań, we are doing a lot of finding, and it's going well so far.

On Monday, we had FHE in the evening, and we went out contacting with one of the members here in the evening, which was fun.

Tuesday, we had weekly planning in the morning, then did some more contacting in the afternoon.  We met a cool guy named Ra., who we ended up meeting with later in the week.  He's open minded and a cool guy in his twenties.  Unfortunately, he returns to where he lives in Gdańsk today, so we probably won't be able to meet with him again.  We'll give his info to the missionaries there and see what happens.  We also had branch missionary correlation meeting in the evening.

Wednesday, we had a lot of time for finding.  The contacting was pretty slow in the afternoon, then we had English class.  After English class, we had about 30 minutes to contact, and we had some pretty solid convos, so that was fun.

Thursday was a very busy day.  We had a service project at a hospice that we do every week, we did some weeding, which was fun.  Elder Long and I talked a lot about college football and BYU and stuff during that, it was fun.  Elder Long's a great guy, I'm glad I get to serve with him this transfer.  We also had district meeting later in the day, then in the evening we had English class again.

On Friday, we had a couple meetings, which was solid.  We met with Ro. through Skype, and that went alright.  He still has a lot of things to understand, we'll see how we can help him moving forward.  In the evening, we also met with Ra., who we had met on Tuesday, and that was good.  We also had some good finding.

Saturday, we had English class and we helped clean the chapel a bit. Also had some contacting, and in the afternoon we went to visit a member named B.  She is a really solid member who just had surgery on her broken arm this past week, so we were there to see how she was doing and read from the Book of Mormon.  She's way solid.

Sunday was way good as well.  Church was a good experience, fast and testimony meeting was solid.  We also had a 'break-the-fast' lunch afterwards as a branch, which was a good time.  We had 3 of our current potentials come to church, which was way cool.  We're hoping we can get them to start taking the lessons here soon.  Also did some more contacting in the evening, which ended up going well.  Pretty much everyone was really nice, even if they didn't have time to stop and talk.

And yea, that was basically our week.  It was another quick one, and we're looking forward to the one we have ahead of us.  One thing I'm especially excited for is conference this weekend!  Really pumped to be able to hear from the inspired leaders of the Church.  I also saw this cool video on lds.org to get y'all pumped for conference, I like the end of the video where it says 'Prepare to be inspired' haha.  Anyway, hope you are all doing well, have another great week!
